The division “E-copies of books” consists of three catalogues: “Cultural heritage”, “Kazakhstannica”, “Rare publications of Kazakhstani
Libraries”.
The catalogue “Cultural heritage” is created with the aim of formation of the insurance electronic collection of the valuable materials of nation and is the fullest source of electronic copies of books, published according to State Programme “Cultural Heritage”. Beginnings of June,
2009 here are 360 digitized books, among of which unique serials on history,
archeology, ethnography, the best models of national literature and written
language in official language, and also new encyclopedic dictionaries. For the last two stages of the
state Programme from 2004 to 2008 there were published more than 350 titles of
books.
The catalogue “Rare publications of Kazakhstani
Libraries” is not less interesting and cognitive; readers can find here publications of past years in Russian and Arab languages (XIX century to 1940), which have cultural and scientific value. All big libraries, libraries of oblast and institutes of
higher education
of country rendered significant help in formation of this
catalogue. One of the first who gave its invaluable publications for digitization
were the National Library of RK in Almaty, Research Center of the Eurasian
National University by name of Gumilev “Otyrar Kitaphanasy”, Kostanai,
Karaganda, Atyrau, West-Kazakhstan, Kyzyl-Orda and Pavlodar oblast libraries.
The themes of books are various – the history of a land, Islam, culture, literature and science of
language, flora and fauna, hydrology, fishery, cattle breeding, land tenure and
so on. Digitizing the book of past years librarians breathed “new life” into
these books. Now
these books are accessible to all and are the part of big history
of Kazakhstan.
The most popular catalogue among readers is “Kazakhstannica”, which includes e-copies of books about Kazakhstan, its social,
political, economic and cultural life. All these books for digitization are given to the libraries of country.
In the formation of this catalogue the big help is rendered by famous
Kazakhstani writers, public figures, scientists who by their great wish give
own publications for entering in digital library.
The search in electronic catalogue “E-copies of books” is executed according to several criteria (look the division “How to search in catalogue”). The result of a search is shown in
the list of bibliographic description, connected with exact copies of books. Selecting
from the list the needed publication you can make page review, or download a fragment
from book for acquaintance with it. Publications without legal restrictions can
be fully downloaded. Other publications are published only in the regime of looking through without making copy, but with the
possibility to order the separate parts of the book on your own email.
