There are several catalogues at the disposal of users:

“Cultural Heritage” – books published in 2004-2008 within the framework of
State Programme
“Cultural Heritage” This menu lets you look through the full text books, download them in pdf
format partly or entirely.

“Foreign Languages Literature” The following catalogues offer you bibliographical descriptions for books
from the collection of the National Academic Library of RK in Astana (NABRK).
Catalogues offer you to order books in reading rooms of NABRK, order e-copies
of needed books fragments. Only permanent readers have access to these
services. By e-mail Registr@nabrk.kz you can get permanent library card
number.
To search literature in catalogues you are offered to use search system. Simple, extended book search, search by all criteria,
and full text search are available.
Select only one criterion out of offered in the simple search (author, title, keywords, etc.) and type
of record (electronic copied books, non-electronic copied books, or both).
Select the most comfortable search criterion, enter text in the indicated
field, and press button “Search”.
Extended search allows you make search considering more accurate criteria of requested literature. In
contrast to simple search, you can indicate author, title,
keywords, etc simultaneously. Besides, criterion of publication year is added
to the extended search. Specifying sections – “search starting with this word”
and “search including this word” – are added to criteria of author and title.
For example, you are searching for a book and don’t remember its full title,
then you select “search including this word”. If you know the full title of the
book, then select “search starting with this word”.
Keywords search makes more search results available.
Simultaneous use of several criteria restricts query results, but specifies
in case you are searching the certain book.
You can make a search by ISBN number (International Standard Book Number), year,
place of publication, and publisher. You can also
narrow search parameters selecting language of the text. Having
entered search parameters, press “Search”.
If you want to cancel your search or make a new search, press “Clear”.
All criteria search offers you to enter a word into one field with
specifying functions “search starting with this word” and “search including
this word”.
Entering a word in “Full text search” field, you will get a list of
literature containing the certain word in description.
After the data handling, you will get search results with bibliographic
description of your query conditions. You will see a number of found
bibliographic records corresponding to your query. Selecting the book you are
interested in, you can look through the full description, download a fragment
or look through the whole book (book copy) if it is available.
Useful tips:
- While
searching avoid too long queries
- If
you couldn’t find anything maybe your query was too long. Try to truncate the
number of significant words.
- Check
up query spelling
If you don’t
get any result on your query, probably you wrote one or several words
incorrectly. Check up all the entered words again. If they are written
correctly, try to reformulate your query.
