About gathering of books

Dear users of the Kazakhstan National Electronic Library,

At your requests, we begin to collect ready electronic copies of Kazakhstani books for their placing in Kazakhstani electronic library.

Books published in Kazakhstan and scanned according to our standards are received as follows:

а) PDF, in black and white version (except illustrations and pictures that are to be in color in jpeg format, with resolution no more than 800 x 600 dots)

б) Each book page is to correspond to one PDF page.

Electronic book copies have to be of high quality and conform to printed original. Electronic copy will undergo an examination on compliance with the original and legitimacy of making copy, and after obtaining the expert commission’s approval it will be admitted to publication in KazNEB in a way determined by the effective legislation of RK in copyright sphere.

Zh. Moldagaliev’s Poem “I Am Kazakh” is the Book of the Action

	On 4 March, 2010, a meeting of the organizing committee of the Action “One Country – One Book” on selecting a book for the project took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The following persons participated at the meeting: Fariza Ungarsynova, Chair of the organizing committee of the Action “One Country – One Book”, People’s writer of Kazakhstan, laureate of RK State Prize, poet; Akim Tarazi, Deputy Chair of the organizing committee, People’s writer, Head of Astana branch of Kazakhstan Writers' Union; members of the organizing committee – Tauekelov S.B., Head of Department of Regional Development and Libraries, Committee on Culture, Ministry of Culture and Information of RK; Yesim Garifolla, Deputy of RK Parliament Senate; Smail A.Z. and Suleimenov Zh.K., Deputies of RK Parliament Mazhilis; Usenbayev Zh.B., NAB RK Deputy Director General; Sultan Orazalin, Honoured Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, writer; Kanypiya Alpysbayev, Professor, Kazakh Literature department, ENU by name of L.N.Gumilev, Doctor of Science (Philology); Nurlan Kalka, Head of Press Service Sector, RK President Administration, poet; Tolymbek Abdraimov, writer; Medeubekov S.B., Director of Centralized Library System, Astana city. Since 2007, the Action “One Country – One Book” has been conducted every year by the Ministry of Culture and Information of RK at the initiative of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Library Association of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The aim of the project is to develop programme on reading advancement, support literacy and reading culture, preserve spiritual heritage, care of the native language, moral and patriotic upbringing of the youth. Several works were suggested to members of the organizing committee; in librarians’ and readers’ opinion, these works could become the book for reading during the action. They are F.Ungarsynova’s lyric poetry, monographs of well-known public and state figure, scientist and writer of political essays A.Bukeikhanov, poem “I Am Kazakh” of laureate of RK State Prize Zh. Moldagaliev, novel “Moscow Is Behind Us” of the writer Bauyrzhan Momyshuly, lyric poetry of the poet and author of the Republic of Kazakhstan national anthem Zh.Nazhimedenov, Nurpeis Baiganin’s poem “Narkyz”, story “My Name Is Kozha” of B.Sokpakbayev, classic of children’s Kazakh literature. Members of the organizing committee had to determine one book. This task was not easy. Many opinions were said at the meeting cause each author’s work is worthy of being read, and studied. While defining criterion for book selection, Fariza Ungarsynova suggested to choose works in which readers could find answers on burning questions of the society and a person. “Now many people are interested in translating foreign authors, - Chair of the organizing committee told. – I think only our national literature facilitates to upbringing of young generation in the way of the best traditions of our nation and love to motherland”. Writer S Orazalin suggested two versions: works of the national leader A.Bukeikhanov and unfading poem “I Am Kazakh” of Zh. Moldagaliev, participant of the Great Patriotic War and to his ninetieth anniversary. “Only art work should be at the action, - Deputy of RK Parliament Senate G.Yesim told. – Now, the issue of civil society strengthening is of vital meaning. We will not be mistaken if we choose Zh. Moldagaliev’s poem. In due time, we knew it by heart. I think, we should look for values in literature. In this connection, the poem “I Am Kazakh” meets these requirements completely. The poem “I Am Kazakh” is a hymn of Kazakhstan poetry. This poem has connecting commencement”. By words of the Deputy of RK Parliament Mazhilis Zh.Suleimenov, students and teachers participated in previous actions. It depends on us if we are able to make more active their work in this direction. The Deputy made his choice on famous work of Zh. Moldagaliev. When summarizing, F.Ungarsynova noted that all suggested works were valuable and interesting, they bring light and kind attitudes to readers, familiarize with our history and traditions. Majority of votes was given for Zh. Moldagaliev’s poem “I Am Kazakh”. Now librarians are to activate their work on studying this poem, promoting reading, and attracting readers’ attention to this poem.
